With the end of the year many of us are taking leave, but the consumer world never stops and, especially for product safety purposes (or to make sure the consumer voice is heard in consultations), it can be important to keep an eye out for news. Below are some websites which may have important consumer news while Consumers’ Federation of Australia is closed for the next two weeks.
- The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) news centre (available here) will have a broad range of updates and media releases. Information about product recalls can also
- The National Anti-Scam Centre (NASC) contains reports, publications, statistics, and news (available here). Especially during holidays and sale seasons it can be helpful to keep an eye on the NASC’s website to remain informed of scam trends and spikes.
- The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) regulates and assess a number of health products, including prescription medication and medical devices. You can find information on shortages, product recalls, safety alerts, and current matters open for consultation on the TGA’s website (available here).
