Consumers International’s (CI) Global Congress, an event held every four years to bring together the consumer movement and cross-sector influencers, has announced its 2023 location as Nairobi, Kenya from 6th-8th December. The focus of the event is to ‘unite leaders in Kenya and build a resilient future for consumers’.
Helena Leurent, Director General for CI, has stressed the global importance of the Congress to consumers, industry, and governments (especially in the shadow of climate change and COVID-19. Saying that “Over the past years we have seen that breakthrough solutions will be reliant on consumers” and flagging the Congress as a place of trust building between consumers, consumer advocates, and marketplace actors.
Supporters for the event include the Government of Kenya, the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK), and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Competition Commission who look forward to sharing national and regional experiences and to enhance global cooperation and coordination.
Other consumer organisations from across Asia, Africa, the Pacific, and the America’s have all voiced support for the event and encouraged attendance and cooperation.
