The ACCC is currently reviewing the mandatory standard for baby walkers – Trade Practices (Consumer Product Safety Standard) (Baby Walkers) Regulation 2002.
This regulation declares portions of ASTM F977-00, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant Walkers, as the mandatory safety standard in Australia. This review is considering declaring the current version of the ASTM standard ASTM F977-11b, as the mandatory product safety standard.
The attachments on this page include the draft of the proposed mandatory product safety standard and a consultation paper, which provides an explanation of the reasons for the proposed regulation.
Stakeholders are invited to make written submissions on the proposed regulation by 4 May 2012.
Submissions can be sent electronically to productsafety.regulation@accc.gov.au
