The Combined Pensioners & Superannuants Association has welcomed the Baird Government’s commitment to extend funding to advocacy organisations for older people in NSW until June 2017.

“These organisations, which include CPSA, Council on the Ageing NSW (COTA), Older Women’s Network (OWN) and The Aged Care Rights Service (TARS) give pensioners a voice and provide critical services to protect the rights of older people in NSW,” said Research & Advocacy Manager Amelia Christie.
“Although the commitment to another two years’ funding is welcome, these organisations previously operated on three-yearly contracts.
“Both NSW Labor and the NSW Greens have committed to funding CPSA for another three years.
“CPSA calls on the NSW Coalition to make the same election commitment to ensure that older people continue to have a strong voice and their rights are upheld beyond 2017,” said Ms Christie.
