New consumer advocacy body for energy announces first CEO

The Board of Energy Consumers Australia (ECA) is pleased to announce the appointment of its inaugural CEO, Ms Rosemary Sinclair.
‘Ms Sinclair brings a wealth of user advocacy and regulatory experience to the role of Chief Executive having previously headed the Australian Telecommunications Users Group and chaired the Regional Telecommunications Review Inquiry Committee’ said ECA Chair Louise Sylvan. ‘She currently serves as a part-time Authority Member of Australia’s communications and media regulator, the ACMA, and is a Director at Wests Tigers Rugby League Football Club.’

‘The Board is much looking forward to working with Ms Sinclair in enhancing the advocacy and outcomes for energy consumers throughout the National Energy Market, in particular strengthening the research and evidence base to support the voice and influence of residential and small business consumers in energy markets.

ECA was established in 2015 by the Council of Australian Governments Energy Council to enhance consumer advocacy on national energy market matters of strategic importance and material consequence for energy consumers, in particular household and small business consumers. The ECA mission promises to promote the long term interests of consumers of energy with respect to security of supply of energy services.
