Call for submissions on National Energy Advocacy Body

Expert Advisors release Consultation Paper

At their meeting of 23 November 2012, Energy Ministers agreed to a comprehensive energy market reform package, which was endorsed by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) at its 7 December 2012 meeting. Dr John Tamblyn and Mr John Ryan have been appointed as expert advisors to develop a proposal for a National Energy Consumer Advocacy Body, in consultation with consumer groups and other stakeholders.

The expert advisors have now released an issues paper to seek information and submissions from stakeholders and interested parties to assist in their work in developing this proposal. The paper includes comments on the role and functions of the advocacy body, guiding principles and its institutional structure and governance framework.

Written submissions close on 8 March 2013.
