Eternal Beauty to pay penalties and costs of $100,000 for resale price maintenance
The Federal Court in Melbourne has imposed penalties of $90,000 against Eternal Beauty Products Pty Ltd (Eternal Beauty) and its Director, Penny Rider, a wholesaler and retailer of skin care products and its only Australian Director, for engaging in resale price maintenance.

ACCC institutes proceedings against Hewlett-Packard Australia Pty Ltd for allegedly misrepresenting consumer rights
The ACCC has instituted proceedings in the Federal Court in Sydney against Hewlett-Packard Australia Pty Ltd (HP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard Company, for alleged contraventions of the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

Trader pays infringement notices for misrepresenting the speed of fibre-to-the-premises broadband services
CNT Corp Pty Ltd has paid three infringement notices totalling $19,800 and provided a court enforceable undertaking to the ACCC after it offered and charged for wholesale fibre to the premises (FTTP) broadband internet services at data transfer rates that its network could not support.

Emirates ordered to pay $10 million for price fixing
The Federal Court in Sydney has ordered Emirates to pay a total of $10 million in penalties for engaging in cartel conduct in breach of the Trade Practices Act 1974 (now the Competition and Consumer Act 2010).

Gold Coast retailer pays penalty for false or misleading Australian made and 100% wool claims
The Federal Court has ordered Gold Coast retailer UNJ Millenium Pty Ltd to pay $55,000 in penalties after it admitted it made false or misleading claims that sheepskin and wool bedding products were made in Australia, contained 100% sheep wool or contained 100% alpaca wool.

Court dismisses Application for declarations
The Federal Court has dismissed an application from the ACCC for declarations that EDirect Pty Ltd engaged in systemic and specific unconscionable conduct, and misleading and deceptive conduct in its telemarketing of mobile phone services. EDirect went into liquidation after the ACCC commenced this litigation.
