World Standards Day 14 October 2026 – Affordable and clean energy (SDG7)

A SHARED VISION FOR A BETTER WORLD Standards for SDGs World Standards Day 14 October IEC, ISO, ITU

World Standards Day highlights how standards support UN Sustainable Development Goals , and this year the focus is on  Goal 7 | Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. From energy safety and reliability to digital services and payments, standards help keep communities connected and support a more sustainable future. Behind every standard is a community of volunteers contributing their expertise to solve shared challenges. Standards remain an essential tool for protecting consumers and strengthening their trust in products and services. It is essential consumers have a voice in standardisation and you can get involved by participating on Standards Australia technical committees as part of the Consumers Federation of Australia (CFA) Standards Project, where consumer representatives help ensure consumer interests remain at the heart of standards development.

CFA recognises the important work of all the volunteer CFA representatives and their ongoing commitment to advancing consumer interests in standardization activities both nationally and internationally. CFA Representatives’ participation as the end users of goods and services, brings unique perspectives, evidence and lived experience that help shape standards, which in turn support positive outcomes for people and society. Find out more about consumers and standards.

As a consumer, access to standards can help you become more informed about what to expect from product and service providers, Standards Australia has provided FREE read only access to Australian standards via the Reader Room.
