CEO of Standards Australia to retire end of 2013

The Chairman of the Board of Standards Australia, Dr Alan Morrison, has announced the forthcoming retirement of the Chief Executive Officer, Colin Blair.

As part of the leadership transition, the Standards Australia Board has commissioned an executive search firm to undertake a comprehensive and competitive process to identify a suitable replacement.

Mr Blair will continue to serve in the role until the end of the year.

“There are few Australians who have contributed more to standards development than Colin Blair,” said Dr Morrison.

Dr Morrison said that under Mr Blair’s leadership, Standards Australia had strengthened its international participation in standardization.

“Under his leadership the organisation achieved great stability strategically, operationally, and financially.

“From the perspective of the Board, I’d also like to reassure you it is very much business-as-usual.

“We have a clear Strategic Plan in place for 2014-18 which will steer the organisation during this period,” Dr Morrison said.

Mr Blair said he was proud of his record at Standards Australia and is committed to ensuring a smooth transition in leadership once a suitable replacement is found.
