Green Action Week 2025 – Sustainable Consumption

Green Action Week 2025

Green Action Week is a global campaign that promotes sustainable consumption through the power of community. Every October, groups around the world come together to share knowledge, resources, skills, and spaces – taking action to reduce waste, live more sustainably and build stronger, more resilient communities. The theme is a Sharing Community, a celebration of creative, practical ways we can support each other and the planet – your action counts. Through local initiatives like skill-sharing events, seed swapping, repair and reuse workshops and community exchanges, participants demonstrate that sustainability isn’t just about using less—it’s about making the most of what we already have, together.

Find out about the Circular success stories: Australian Toy Scheme Swaps Waste with Joy. The UN Consumer Information for Sustainable Consumption and Production Program (CI-SCP) implements and supports projects; undertakes research; identifies and encourages policies; and provides collaboration opportunities for anyone looking to engage and assist consumers in sustainable consumption.

Consumers Federation of Australia (CFA) engages with these issues by supporting representatives to Standards Australia Technical Committees that develop standards in key areas of the circular economy including environmental management, textiles, organics and food loss, sustainable procurement, and renewables. Find out more about the CFA Standards Project and  why standards are important. As a consumer, access to standards can help you become more informed about what to expect from product and service providers, Standards Australia’s Reader Room platform offers FREE read-only access for non-commercial (personal, domestic, or household) use to Australian standards.
