Public comment invited on draft standards for summer toboggan runs

There are a number of facilities with summer toboggan runs operating in Australia. Summer toboggans are an amusement or recreational ride which uses a sled or cart to run down a track usually built on the side of a hill. The type of track, safety features, speed and layout vary. The two new standards open for public comment will address operational and safety requirements including planning, design and calculation, manufacture, testing and commissioning.

Standards Australia encourages views and input from a wide cross section of the public on the following draft standards:

  • Draft AS 19202.1:2021 Summer toboggan runs, Part 1: Safety requirements and test methods
  • Draft AS 19202.2:2021 Summer toboggan runs, Part 2: Safety requirements for operation

The public comment period is an important stage in the development of Australian Standards since it captures comments in order to address areas of concern. Anyone who feels they have something to contribute please make comments by 24 May 2021 via the Public Comment Guide for Members of the Public here or contact standards@consumeraction.org.au
