Tasmanian Council of Social Service

tasscossEstablished in 1961, the Tasmanian Council of Social Service is the peak body for the community services sector in Tasmania.

Members of the Tasmanian Council of Social Service are individuals and organizations who are active delivering community services.

The interests of low-income, vulnerable and disadvantaged Tasmanians and members are represented to the government, regulators, private sector, the public and the media.

Tasmanian Council of Social Service researches and develops social policy, and strengthens the Tasmanian community services sector through their work.

Despite receiving State Government funding, Tasmanian Council of Social Service acts independently of government and political parties.

In addition, Tasmanian Council of Social Service is part of a state and territory-wide national network of councils of social service, as well as the Australian Council of Social Service, which is the national body.
