The Consumers’ Federation of Australia is delighted to congratulate consumer advocates Susan Fraser and David Niven on being awarded Medals of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Sue Fraser leads Uniting’s (formerly Kildonan) Enterprise Partnerships team consulting to the banking, debt collection, utilities and telecommunications sectors, enabling positive financial outcomes for consumers and business alike. Sue has over 25 years’ experience working in the financial counselling and welfare sector across Australia, and overseas. She has pioneered work that addresses disadvantage, advocating on behalf of and strengthening protections for vulnerable consumers.
David Niven has made a significant contribution to consumer law and advocacy for more than 30 years. Most recently, David worked as a Senior Solicitor with Consumer Action Law Centre, leading impactful casework and advocacy and providing mentorship for the Centre’s lawyers. Over his career, David has worked with Consumer Affairs Victoria, consumer Credit Legal Centre, Maurice Blackburn and served the Financial Ombudsman Service as Legal Counsel.
