Privacy and parking fines

In Victoria, VicRoads is being forced to disclose motorists’ personal information to private car park operators who then use that information to issue payment demands.

CFA member Consumer Action Law Centre is throwing its support behind a petition which calls on the State Government to introduce legislation that would stop VicRoads from having to disclose Victorians’ personal information.

The New South Wales Government put a stop to this breach of privacy last year, and it’s time Victorian motorists were given the same right to privacy as those north of the border.
