How do you service an Electric Car? – draft open for public comment

If you’re trying to understand electric and hybrid vehicles, what’s under the bonnet can be a bit of a mystery including the maintenance and servicing requirements, read more here. The revised draft standard AS 5732 Electrical vehicle operations – Maintenance and repair provides requirements and guidance on the safe and appropriate handling procedures for those within the mechanical repair, body repair and refinishing industries when working on plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). It covers maintenance and repairs, servicing and safe handling and storage precautions.

Standards Australia encourages views and input from a wide cross section of the public on a draft publication during the Public Comment stage. The draft standard was prepared by members of the Standards Australia Technical Committee EM-001 Electric vehicles. CFA supports two representatives to participate on this committee, bringing the consumer stakeholder contribution to the process and ensuring a robust standard of benefit to the community.
