Dangers to pedestrians at zebra crossings from collision with vehicles particularly at night are a concern.  It’s easy to become complacent about safety, especially on a familiar route. The revised draft AS/NZS 1158.4:202 is a standard related to lighting for roads and public spaces. Specifically, it focuses on the lighting of pedestrian crossings. The goal is to enhance the visibility and safety of pedestrians and is available for Public Comment until 25 July 2024.

DR AS/NZS 1158.4:2024 Lighting for roads and public spaces, Part 4: Lighting of pedestrian crossings was revised by Standards Australia Technical Committee LG-002 Lighting for Roads and Public Spaces.

Public Comment ensures that the broader community has an opportunity to review the content and direction of the document prior to its completion.
