CFA is represented on the ASIC Consumer Consultative Panel (CCP) and is seeking a new CFA representative to fulfil this role. The CCP assists ASIC to identify current and emerging consumer issues in the sectors we regulate; provides feedback on proposed regulatory changes; and through an evidence base of practical experience, inform the development and delivery of ASIC’s strategic and operational objectives.
The ASIC CCP comprises of 12 members including an independent chair. More information can be found here. It meets three times a year (usually February, July and November), for a day long meeting. Members receive a sitting fee for each meeting they attend. Currently the sitting fee is $395. Attendance is preferred to be in person (generally in Sydney, occasionally in Melbourne). ASIC will cover reasonable travel costs and accommodation.
Members are required to
- Prior to each meeting provide a written update in relation to emerging themes and key issues they are seeing
- Be available to consult with ASIC on ad hoc issues as they arise
- Provide regular reports back to CFA about the work of the CCP.
About you
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- a good understanding of consumer issues in the finance sector, including consumer credit, insurance and financial products
- ability to represent consumer and community interests
