International Volunteer Day (IVD), not only celebrates volunteerism in all its facets – but also pays special tribute to people’s participation in making a difference locally, nationally and globally.
IVD 2014 highlights the contribution of volunteers in engaging people from the grass-roots in decision-making processes, ultimately creating space for participation that leads to: stronger governance, social cohesion, peace and sustainable development.
International Volunteer Day (IVD) was established by the UN General Assembly in 1985 and is held each year on December 5. It is a day for volunteers and volunteer based organizations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to showcase the difference they make in their communities.
On 5 December 2014 CFA acknowledges our volunteer representatives on committees and the CFA Standards Project in their engagement and voice, in shaping our nation and the world we want through the spirit of volunteerism.
