About the Occupational Licence Advisory Committees
The National Occupational Licensing System is a national regulatory reform, agreed by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) in April 2009. This reform will introduce a single national licence for specified occupations within Australia. A national licence will allow licence holders to perform the licence’s regulated scope of work in all Australian states and territories without needing to apply for mutual recognition or separate licences.
The role of the OLACs is to provide advice to the National Occupational Licensing Board regarding the development, maintenance and performance of licensing policy for each respective occupational area.
The OLACs will comprise people with expertise in an occupational area across the fields of regulation, industry operations and practices, safety, consumer advocacy and training, as outlined in the Occupational Licensing National Law Act 2010.
