Operating since 1993, the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman scheme (TIO) provides a fair, independent and accessible dispute resolution service for telephone and internet complaints.
The TIO scheme is managed by an Ombudsman and a Board comprising independent directors, directors with industry and with consumer experience and an independent Chair. The Board is responsible for appointing and protecting the independence of the Ombudsman.
The Ombudsman reports to the Board and leads a team of around 200, handling complaints from lodgement through to resolution. The TIO Board guides the organisation’s strategy, growth, and direction and ensures compliance with board duties and obligations. A vacancy for the role of Director with Consumer Experience will arise in February 2019.
Candidates wishing to be considered for the role of Director with Consumer Experience must demonstrate a current link or links to either a community or consumer group representing users of telecommunications services, including individual or small business users; and/or a community or consumer group or agency representing public interest issues relevant to telecommunications services.
The TIO Board meets between eight and 10 times a year, mostly in Melbourne. Directors are remunerated and reasonable travel expenses to attend meetings will be reimbursed. For a full description and the requirements and instructions on how to apply, email email@example.com
