Call for consumer representatives on Standards Australia Technical Committees – playground equipment and sports and recreational equipment

Do you want to make a difference?

Do you want to ensure products and services include consumer protection?

Consumers’ Federation of Australia (CFA) is calling for expressions of interest for volunteer consumer representative positions on the following  Standards Australia Technical Committees, as part of the CFA Standards Project

Consumers are a key stakeholder group in the development of standards by making the product or service more market relevant; enhancing consumer confidence; addressing societal issues; and providing feedback from the point of view of the end user.

The work of CFA representatives results in better, more relevant standards and more desirable end products giving the Australian consumer greater confidence in the products, services and systems they use.

We have vacancies on the following two committees where the role is to advocate for the consumer interest to be taken into account, and for the standard to include acceptable requirements for consumer protection:

CS-005 Playground equipment:

Developing standards for playground equipment for use in parks, schools and domestic situations covering specification of materials, safety aspects, siting, installations and maintenance of equipment. Includes guides for the establishment and administration of adventure playgrounds.

CS-101 Sports and recreational equipment:

Developing standards for adult sized equipment, indoor equipment, and equipment intended to be used in organised sport and public areas, covering safety aspects , labelling and fixed peg systems. Also providing use and maintenance advice.
